How I Write

Sharing some unsolicited tips..

I write in my head, while driving, showering, shopping as the characters speak to me. I sm not a liner writer. I do not follow a structured routine. I  reorder the chapters as the story unfolds.

  •
    I Declutter

It is very difficult for me to write amongst disarray, and clutter. So, I clean first, light a candle, set the music and start.

  •
    Defined Working Times

I work best late at night until over in the morning–in stillness.

  •
    No Distractions

While I appreciate a space that isn’t vulnerable to distractions, I find out that those same distractions present an opportunity to take the breaks I am often oblivious to needing.

Main Working Principles

Do what works for you

Write A Lot

I have written many stories that have gone unpublished. Just as artist write songs that are never recorded or released, I think authors are the same in that regard.

Read A ton of books

One word. Indeed!

I do not use outlines

I don’t recommend this because some people can benefit from drafting an outline. Perhaps I can also, but some writers do not tie themselves to structure, but the fluid creative process.
